A challenging truth!

A new thirst for truth?!

People of all ages, from young graduates to young retirees, are thirsty for truth and authenticity. More and more are allured by the idea of trading the illusion of security and safety for understanding who they are and for finding purpose and making a change in the world, although many are not yet taking this step for the time being. Living a good life and material comfort is no longer enough, it is not even a scope in life, amid more and more chaos and a strong feeling of fragility of our humanity as a collective. The risks and threats of new epidemics, third world / nuclear war, AI take over, climate disaster etc., are sensed by many although not always verbally acknowledged!

What if there are different perspectives on truth?!

While listening to people from outside my usual social environment, it dawned on me that maybe Putin is not the only villain out there and that maybe Trump is not as stupid as portrayed by the Western media. I am not a fan of any of them and I would never vote for them, should I be given this opportunity. However, treating of ‘stupid’ all those who chose to do so, is I think equally unwise and in many ways, aggressive and dangerous maybe. One thing I am sure of now, these people are not stupid at all and they do have some good arguments in choosing Putin or Trump. While I cannot verify their arguments, I cannot verify mine either. I feel therefore compelled to be humble enough and accept that I myself might be wrong as well. Instead of judging and ‘throwing stones’, I choose to stop listening to the media and instead engage with people from different social environments, different education, different cultures and countries, different everything and I seek to understand. Throwing stones will only polarize further our societies and in the end would only benefit the ‘villains’ out there. In a world plagued by disinformation and propaganda at all levels, I choose not to take sides and instead talk to my neighbors, listen to everyone, to go into the woods, to assess pros and cons and in the end choose my own truth, while accepting that there are different perspectives on truth!
